Phonics is a method of teaching reading and spelling by focusing on the relationship between spoken sounds (phonemes) and written letters (graphemes). It helps learners decode words by sounding them out, recognizing that letters represent sounds and can be blended together to form words. Phonics instruction is a crucial building block for reading fluency and comprehension.
